In March 1964, director Richard Lester began filming "A Hard Day's Night", a feature film starring The Beatles, with a quick, sharp humour, and brilliant soundtrack. The film describes the emotion and chaos of thirty-six hours in the band's life, starring John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr. This collection of photographs and unique material captures the contagious energy and anarchic spirit of this innovative film.

It includes photographs and objects never before seen, a look behind the scenes of The Beatles’ first acclaimed film.

In addition, this book is special because of its author. Mark Lewisohn was born in London in 1958 and is widely considered to be the group's leading historian and world authority on The Beatles, a reputation that began in his years as a researcher for other writers and was confirmed in 1986 when he wrote The Beatles Live!, a journal-style chronology of the group's stage performances. Since then, he has written several more books about the group, including "Recording Sessions", the New York Times best seller “Tune In” and the first biographical volume about the band “The Beatles: All These Years”.
